Are you ready?

Distance learning is a means of providing access to instructional programs for students who are separated by time and physical location from a faculty member. Students who have family responsibilities, work schedule conflicts, class schedule conflicts, as well as lifelong learners will find ECC's growing list of online and distance learning courses convenient. Distance learning will also be attractive to those who need or want to update job-related skills.

Before committing to enroll in an distance learning course, the student should be aware that this is a different kind of learning.  Those who are not self-learners may find this type of instruction difficult.  You should ask yourself a few questions before registering:

  • Can I work independently?

  • Can I stick to a schedule of tasks?

  • Do I have good reading skills?

  • Do I like to write?

  • Will I seek out help from the instructor when necessary?

Additional questions for an online distance learning course:

  • Can I use a word processor?

  • Do I have access to a computer with a good internet connection?

  • Do I know how to send and receive email?

  • Do I know how to send and receive email attachments?
