Within
the first week of school, students should contact the instructor and
visit the course site (or attend orientation).

Students
must read the course syllabus and any other documents related to the
course to be sure that they are aware of any and all instructor
policies.

must adhere to course schedules and deadlines. Distance learning courses
are not designed to be self-paced.

Students
must use the communication procedures established by the instructor for
submission of assignments and for completing course requirements.

Students
will confirm that he/she has the necessary equipment and technical
skills to undertake online courses.

Students
will familiarize himself/herself with the information and policies
contained in the Catalog Handbook of Erie Community College. Individual
programs may also have program-specific student handbooks. The student
is directed to his/her program for those resources.

Students
will check and maintain his/her e-mail account and read all course
announcements, at least two or three times per week (preferably daily).
This recommendation may vary, depending on the online instructor's
specific course requirements.

Students
will recognize that when he/she submits assignments to the drop box or
contributes to the threaded discussions he/she must observe the same
college prohibitions against plagiarism that apply to assignments in
classroom courses, in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct
procedures that are described in the Erie Community College Catalog
Handbook.

Students
will notify his/her instructor, in advance, if he/she is unable to
complete
an assignment by the published submission deadline.
